There are many styles of fighting that are used in the octogan. The main styles that
prevail are Wrestling, Jiu-jitsu and and striking from the feet. some other styles of fighting
that are used in the cage are akido, boxing, brazilian jiu-jitsu, freestyle wrestling, gracie
jiu-jitsu, greco-roman wrestling, hybrid style, judo, kickboxing, pitfighting, and submission fighting.

training.
- GRACIE JIU-JITSU was invented in the mid-1920's bye a guy with the name of Carlos Gracie. He opened the Gracie
Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He taught the skills he learned from Japanese Judo master Esai Maeda.
The skills were later modified to use less strength and to be more effective against larger opponents. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu's
reputation spread due to the success of the Gracie family and others who uses this fighting style in no holds barred
contests. This is also known as BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU.
- AIKIDO is a Japanese Martial art founded by Morihei Ueshiba in 1942 that specializes in throws and joint
manipulations.
- BOXING When fighting with the fists while wearing padded leather gloves. Referred to as the "sweet science,"
boxers use elaborate foot maneuvers and quick jabs for offense. In boxing you can only strike with the hands.
- KICK BOXING is a sportive martial art combining boxing punches and martial arts kicks. No headbuts, elbows, knees, or
low kicks are allowed Many different styles with different rules exist such as Muay Thai, Full Contact Karate,
and Asian Rules Fighting.
